Amalawi Pepani—Kachaje

By Suleman Chitera

Henry Kachaje, the Executive Director of the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA), has extended his apologies to the Malawian people regarding the ongoing fuel crisis, which he claims has historical roots.

Speaking at a press conference in Blantyre, Kachaje addressed the media about the fuel shortages that have plagued the country. However, he did not specify a timeline for when Malawians could expect a resolution to the issue.

He stated, “We saw that it was possible for the fuel shortages to be resolved within the past week, but unfortunately, we fell short. So, to that end, we apologize.”

Kachaje continued, “When can Malawians expect a solution? We have learned not to repeat the same mistakes. We cannot say exactly when this issue will be resolved, but we are committed to providing updates on the status of fuel supply in the country. This is a significant problem, and we are working hard to address it.”

As the fuel crisis continues, many Malawians are left wondering when relief will come, highlighting the urgency of the situation and the need for effective solutions.
