Francis Mzindiko reports from Peletiya in Machinjiri, where an Afro Egypt vehicle has been destroyed by fire. The incident occurred today, with eyewitness Patrick Magombo recounting that he noticed smoke emerging from the car’s bonnet before the flames erupted. Magombo, along with about ten others, attempted to extinguish the fire using fire extinguishers and sand. Despite their efforts, the fire intensified, leaving the vehicle in ashes.
Deputy Commissioner of Police and Limbe’s Officer-in-Charge, Nkhambu, confirmed that the burned vehicle belongs to Afro Egypt, a company known for fueling network towers. “The actual cause of the fire is not yet known, but fire fighters may have more insights once they conclude their investigation,” said Nkhambu.
The incident comes amid Malawi’s ongoing fuel crisis, amplifying public anxiety as fuel shortages continue to impact daily activities.
