Chakwera vows to eradicate hunger in Malawi

President Lazarus Chakwera has assured Malawians that his administration is committed to ending hunger in the country.

Speaking in Chiseka, Lilongwe, during his meet-the-people tour, President Chakwera emphasized that his government will do everything possible to ensure that no one dies from hunger.

Malawi has been experiencing recurring hunger crises due to factors such as drought, floods, and economic instability.

The El Nino phenomenon has also affected the country’s agricultural production, leading to food shortages.

Chakwera’s administration has been working to address the hunger crisis through various initiatives, including the distribution of maize to affected households.

The President has also urged those involved in the distribution of aid to ensure that it reaches the intended beneficiaries.

Chakwera’s meet-the-people tour is aimed at mobilizing support for his administration’s development agenda. The President has been urging Malawians to register to vote in the upcoming elections, scheduled for September 16, 2025.

“The government is committed to ending hunger in Malawi. Efforts are being made to distribute aid to affected households. Those involved in the distribution of aid must ensure that it reaches the intended beneficiaries. Malawians are urged to register to vote in the upcoming elections,” he. said.

The President has been meeting with various groups, including traditional leaders, farmers, and youth. The tour is expected to cover all regions of the country.
