Dalitso Kabambe Urges Malawians to Look Beyond Afrobarometer Survey Results

UTM President Dalitso Kabambe has urged Malawians not to place too much weight on the recent Afrobarometer survey results, which indicated that his party would secure only seven percent of the vote if elections were held this year. Kabambe, speaking during whistle-stop rallies in Mangochi, emphasized that the survey results were taken during a time when the UTM was still grappling with uncertainty following the tragic death of its leader, Saulos Chilima.

Kabambe pointed out that, at the time of the survey, many Malawians might not have been fully aware of the party’s direction, as it had not yet held a convention to elect a new leader. “If the popularity poll was to be conducted again now, the perception will have changed obviously because we now have a united party which is gaining support from the masses,” Kabambe explained.

He further encouraged the public to remain hopeful, asserting that the UTM remains the only political party capable of driving genuine economic transformation in Malawi. Kabambe stressed that the party’s policies are directly aligned with the needs of the people and that it is focused on delivering the change the country desperately needs.

“Do not give up hope, rather gather courage and register to harvest the transformation which we all need after the 2025 general elections,” Kabambe urged. His message resonated with many of the rally attendees, as he painted a picture of a united party that is focused on building a better Malawi through sound economic policies and effective governance.

Kabambe’s remarks were a clear attempt to shift the narrative surrounding the UTM, signaling that the party is poised for growth and greater support ahead of the 2025 elections. As the UTM prepares for its upcoming convention and positions itself for a strong showing in the elections, Kabambe’s call for unity and action underscores his belief in the party’s potential to lead the country through its economic challenges.

With the 2025 elections on the horizon, the UTM president’s message of optimism and renewed focus on the party’s vision for Malawi’s future is set to play a crucial role in shaping public opinion and rallying supporters across the nation.
