Robin’s Park, Blantyre – Former President Dr. Joyce Banda has once again proven her dedication to the empowerment of girls and women in Malawi with the official launch of the Joyce Banda Foundation Girls Education Bursaries. The event, held at Robin’s Park in Blantyre, marks a significant milestone in the ongoing fight for gender equality in education, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
The K315 million initiative is one of the most anticipated educational projects of the year, reflecting Dr. Banda’s long-standing commitment to uplifting young women through access to education. In her speech, Dr. Banda highlighted the importance of education as a tool for transforming communities and the nation as a whole. “Education is the key to unlocking the potential of our girls, and it is the foundation upon which we can build a prosperous and equal Malawi,” she stated, reiterating the urgent need for more investment in girls’ education.
The bursaries are aimed at providing financial assistance to girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring they have the opportunity to pursue secondary and tertiary education without the burden of school fees.
