The Dawn of 2025: A Year of Hope and Redemption for Malawi

By Comrade jumbe

As the sun rises on 2025, we find ourselves at a crossroads, reflecting on the trials and tribulations that have defined our journey as a nation.

The past years have tested our resolve, strained our faith, and laid bare the consequences of misguided leadership.

Yet, as an African proverb teaches us, “The darkest hour comes before dawn.” Let us look to this New Year with hope, faith, and a determination to rewrite the story of Malawi.

The return of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to power has been a bitter chapter in our history.

What was heralded as an opportunity for progress has instead become a curse upon our beloved nation.

Hunger now stalks our land—not for lack of resources, but due to mismanagement and greed.

Fertilizer, once a lifeline for our farmers, has become a luxury too expensive for the poor, pushing many into deeper despair.

Fuel shortages and a crumbling currency have further suffocated our economy, leaving the majority to bear the unbearable weight of survival.

It is said in Africa, “When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot harm you.” Yet, the enemy within—manifested in failed governance and misplaced priorities—has done more damage than any external force.

The failure of the MCP to provide clarity and accountability in the tragic loss of Saulos Chilima and others has darkened the trust that citizens once placed in them.

These shadows remind us that leadership without integrity is like a house built on sand—it cannot stand the test of time.

But as we reflect on these challenges, we must remember another our African proverb: “A bird does not change its feathers because the weather is bad.” Malawi’s resilience runs deep. We are a people forged by struggle but destined for greatness.

The time has come for us to use the power of our collective voice, through democratic means, to bring about the change we so desperately need.

2025 is not just another year—it is a beacon of hope, a chance for redemption, and an opportunity to reclaim our nation’s destiny.

We need to have a full confidence in ourselves that we are the change which we want.

You must act as if it is impossible to fail.” The road ahead will not be easy, but together, we can rise above the failures of the past.

My fellow citizens let this year be a clarion call to action. Let it remind us that true change begins with us. Let it inspire us to demand accountability, choose leaders who serve the people, and build a nation where justice, prosperity, and unity prevail.

As we turn the page, let us also turn our hearts to God, the ultimate source of guidance and strength.

We supplicate to Him for abundant blessings and divine intervention in the affairs of our nation. Let us step boldly into 2025, believing that this is the year when the tide turns and the dreams of a better Malawi become a reality.

“The rain does not fall on one roof alone.” The prosperity we seek must be shared by all, leaving no one behind. May 2025 be the year of healing, renewal, and transformation for Malawi.

The dawn has come—it is up to us to make it shine brighter than ever before.
