FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Malawi’s most decorated football team, has unveiled Peter Mponda as their new head coach, marking his return to the club he once graced as a player. During a press briefing held at the Bullets’ headquarters, Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga expressed the club’s excitement at having Mponda back in the fold.
“The People’s Team is excited to have our man back on board,” Chigoga stated. “Peter Mponda is not just a coach; he is part of the Bullets family, and we believe his leadership will guide us to greater heights.”
Mponda’s appointment comes on the heels of a historic achievement with Silver Strikers. In the 2024 season, he led the Central Bankers to their first TNM Super League title in 11 years, showcasing his tactical prowess and ability to foster winning teams. His success at Silver Strikers was a testament to his growth and maturity as a coach, making him a perfect fit for Bullets as they aim to reclaim their dominance in local and regional competitions.
Mponda replaces Kalisto Pasuwa, whose tenure at the club saw unparalleled success, including multiple Super League titles and strong performances in CAF competitions. Pasuwa’s departure left a void, but Chigoga expressed confidence that Mponda’s vision and understanding of the game would usher in a new era of success for Bullets.
Mponda has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2028. Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, he shared his excitement about returning to Bullets and his ambitions for the club.
“It feels great to be back home,” Mponda said. “Bullets have always been a special place for me. I am ready to take on the challenge and build on the legacy of this great club. The fans deserve nothing less than the best, and I am here to deliver.”
As the 2025 season approaches, all eyes will be on Mponda to see how he builds his team and implements his strategies. With a strong squad, a dedicated fan base, and the backing of the management, Mponda is poised to lead Bullets to further glory in both domestic and international competitions.
For The People’s Team, the return of Peter Mponda signals a commitment to excellence, tradition, and a future full of promise. Fans will undoubtedly be eager to see their team thrive under his leadership, as Bullets aim to solidify their status as the pride of Malawi football.
