Chakwera’s SONA Under Fire: Legal expert warns of impeachment possibility

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) has come under intense scrutiny, with a renowned legal expert warning that the President could face impeachment if he knowingly presented false or misleading information to Parliament.

Justin Dzonzi, a respected legal mind, has cautioned that if Chakwera deliberately misled the public, he would have violated Section 12 of the Constitution, which could serve as grounds for impeachment.

According to Dzonzi, if the President’s SONA contained inaccurate information, and no action is taken against those responsible, it would imply that Chakwera knowingly lied to the nation.

This, Dzonzi argued, would constitute a constitutional breach and potentially provide a basis for impeachment.

“The President’s SONA is a sacred document that outlines the government’s plans and achievements. If it contains false or misleading information, it undermines the trust and confidence of the public in the government,” Dzonzi explained.
