Sunganimoyo finally withdraws membership from MCP

By Vincent Gunde

A bona-fide Malawi Congress Party (MCP) member Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo, says he has withdrawn his full time membership with the MCP claiming that the party still believes in the four cornerstones as founded by Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda of Loyalty, Unity, Obedience and Discipline.

Sunganimoyo said following these four cornerstones anyone found speaking constructive views for the party to move forward if he is a junior member, is regarded to be an enemy of the party and rebelling against the four cornerstones of which the party was founded.

He said he has liberty to speak what is paining him as well as those of the other people and as such, he sees himself that his rights are being violated so too those of others in the Central Region of Malawi including Chewa chiefs to be clapping hands at nonsense in order to defend the four cornerstones.

Speaking through an audio clip, Sunganimoyo has claimed that some members in the MCP look at him with red eyes as not wanted in the party and there are some people within the party who are giving him information of what to be doing in the party.

Sunganimoyo said in 2020 some Europeans made it clear that they have found a man who walks bare-foot in Malawi and they will promote him up to be voted for as President of the country saying the news was greeted with anger by the MCP as if he was against the leadership of President Chakwera in the party.

He said after President Chakwera was voted into power in June, 2020 he received thousands of claims that people who fought gallantly for Chakwera to win were taken as useless in the party saying he took this to the MCP for their assistance, this made them to declare him an enemy of progress in the party.

The MCP bona-fide member said he wanted to contest for a Member of Parliament seat for Lilongwe City-Ngwenya constituency but was blocked by the MCP as if he was an intruder in the party, and as this was not enough, he was removed from all MCP forums.

He said in 2024 he conducted a visit to some of the central region districts where he found that hunger has affected many in the region, he reported to President Chakwera to provide food to the people of the region, he was also taken as an enemy of the party.

Sunganimoyo said he felt sorry to hunger-stricken people of Ngwenya when the MCP failed to distribute free food to the beneficiaries on the claims that many who were beneficiaries belonged to opposition political parties of AFORD, UTM, UDF and DPP.

“If I had a position in the MCP, I would have by now been removed but I was just an ordinary member, my journey is not to go back to the MCP, I will stand independent,” he said.

He has appealed to all those who wants to join him to do so saying he will compete with those who have bags of money in their houses but he is banking hope on those that are feeling pain for their country that this is not the Malawi all have been waiting for, to vote for him.

Sunganimoyo has dismissed claims that his standing as an independent presidential candidate in the central region will be like dividing votes for Chakwera claiming that there are many Chewas in the region who will not vote for Chakwera and will not vote because they are frustrated saying those people are his targets.

He has assured Malawians that they have sailed through pain and sufferings in President Chakwera’s leadership not to lose heart, on the 16th September, 2025 something big will happen in Malawi, God cannot continue to see his children crying without giving them hope for a better tomorrow.

Sunganimoyo has warned people in the central region that the day they will open their eyes that the four cornerstones in the MCP are infringing their freedom of speech and democracy in the party, Malawi will open and true unity will be in the party but if these four cornerstones continue to be as they are, they should forget any development in the party.

He said politics of intimidation, threatening one another even forcing Chewa chiefs to be taken as party chairmen will take the MCP to nowhere urging chiefs to work the government of the day and leave politics to politicians if they want their areas to move out from abstract poverty to prosperity.
