Chweneyagae gained international recognition for his leading role in the 2005 film Tsotsi, which won an Oscar award for Best Foreign Language Film. He was 21 years old at the time.

He was also known for his long-running role in the television drama The River from 2018 to 2023 where he played the character of ‘Cobrizi’

His other film and television credits include Moruti wa Tsotsi, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and iNumber Number.
