Joyce Banda says if elected she would turn around status of things in Malawi

Malawi’s former president Joyce Banda says Malawians are facing numerous challenges and if elected president she will turn things around so that Malawians live meaningful and productive lives.

The former president was speaking on Sunday 15 June, 2025 in Lilongwe at an event called Orange Worship organized by her party and where members of the clergy from different denominations a d faith organizations attended.

Banda says the “status quo in Malawi is not acceptable” where people are failing to afford the basic needs. She says that if Malawians voted her into office she will ensure that just like she did when she was president, put Malawi’s economy back on track, ensure availability and affordability of basic commodities.

She asked the clergy to pray for her so that as God is calling her to lead Malawi, she “recognize his voice”

Speaking on behalf of the faith leaders that were gathered Apostle Paul Yesaya says “leaders have a huge responsibility to pray for the country as well as the leaders. He added that “when a leader has been called by God and does God’s will the nation and its people prosper”
