Russia Welcomes U.S. Decision to Suspend Military Aid to Ukraine

Russia has welcomed the United States’ decision to suspend military aid to Ukraine, describing it as a positive step towards ending the ongoing conflict between the two countries.

Russian government spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Moscow is pleased with Washington’s move, which he claimed is a result of the U.S.’s internal shortages in military supplies.

“This decision highlights the strain on America’s own military resources,” said Peskov. “The halt in weapons support is clearly weakening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, while our forces remain well-equipped and prepared.”

The U.S. government, through Deputy White House Press Secretary Anna Kelly, confirmed the suspension, stating that the move is intended to safeguard America’s national security by ensuring that its military has sufficient resources.

“The United States must first ensure its own readiness before continuing to support foreign engagements,” said Kelly.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth echoed the sentiment, noting that he initiated the suspension to allow a comprehensive review of America’s military inventory.

“This is a precautionary measure to assess our defense stockpiles and guarantee that we are not overextending our support,” said Hegseth.

The development comes at a critical time in the Russia-Ukraine war, now in its third year, as Ukrainian forces continue to rely heavily on Western support to repel Russian advances. Analysts warn that a prolonged pause in U.S. assistance could shift the dynamics of the conflict in Russia’s favor.
