Independent presidential hopeful Cosmas Felix Chipojola arrived at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on Saturday, 26th July 2025.

He was the third and final candidate of the day to present his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

Chipojola’s appearance marked a significant step in his bid for the presidency ahead of the highly anticipated September 16th, 2025 General Election.

The atmosphere at BICC was calm, yet filled with anticipation as Chipojola entered the nomination hall.

Dressed in a navy-blue suit and accompanied by a group of enthusiastic supporters, the independent candidate exuded confidence in his presidential ambitions.

His submission of nomination papers followed MEC’s official timetable, which ensures equal opportunity for all aspiring presidential candidates.

Chipojola’s decision to contest as an independent highlights his desire to offer Malawians an alternative outside the traditional political establishment.

With this move, he officially joins a growing list of contenders seeking to occupy the country’s highest office.

The Malawi Electoral Commission, under the leadership of Chairperson Honourable Justice Annabel Mtalimanja, continues to oversee the nomination process with transparency and strict adherence to constitutional guidelines.

Chipojola’s entry into the presidential race adds further diversity to the contest and reinforces the democratic spirit of the upcoming elections.
