On 16 August, Her Excellency Professor Getrude Mutharika attended a choir competition in Mangochi Municipal.
The event was organized by Hon. Rodrick Chiwaya, Shadow MP for Mangochi Municipal, as part of efforts to promote unity in the area.
Choirs from different churches participated in the competition, showcasing their musical talent.
In her remarks, Her Excellency Professor Getrude Mutharika emphasized that singing is a gift and blessing from above, which Malawians should use in serving God.
Some of the guest performers who graced the event included the Ndirande Anglican Voices and Allan Chirwa.
In addition to the choirs, the event was also attended by DPP Director of Women-East, Hon. Eluby Kandeu, and Hon. Roza Fatch, Shadow MP for Mangochi Central.
The winners of the competition were Mangochi CCAP Kufalitsa Choir.
This competition not only celebrated music but also strengthened community bonds in Mangochi Municipal.
It highlighted how cultural and spiritual activities can foster unity among people of different backgrounds.
As politics and religion often intersect in Malawi, such events serve as bridges for peace, cooperation, and collective identity.
