The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the Central Region is set to hold an appreciation rally on Sunday, 16 November 2025, to thank the people of Mtandire and Mtsiliza for their overwhelming support in the recent elections. The event, which will take place at the popular Chilimampunga ground, is expected to draw senior party officials and hundreds of supporters from the two communities.

According to party officials, the rally is being organized under the leadership of the DPP Vice President for the Central Region, who is also the Minister of Homeland Security, Alfred Gangata. Gangata, who won the parliamentary seat for the Mtandire–Mtsiliza constituency, is expected to personally express gratitude to the electorate for entrusting him with the responsibility to represent them in Parliament.

Residents of the two areas voted strongly in favour of the DPP, giving renewed confidence to the party and its president, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM). Gangata’s victory, combined with the party’s overall performance in the locality, has prompted the regional leadership to host a thanksgiving rally as a gesture of appreciation.

The gathering will be attended by top DPP officials including the Central Region Governor, David Kambalame, and Senior District Governor, Mussa Saidi. They are expected to address the crowd and reaffirm the party’s commitment to development, unity, and responsive leadership.

DPP leaders say the rally will not only celebrate electoral victories but also strengthen the relationship between the party and the communities of Mtandire and Mtsiliza, ensuring continued collaboration as the new parliamentary term begins.

The party has thanked the people for choosing DPP, for their trust in Professor Mutharika’s leadership, and for electing Alfred Gangata as their Member of Parliament.
