Political activist Bon Kalindo has expressed his deep concern over the state of affairs in Malawi where courts are issuing unrealistic injunctions making Malawians labelling the courts as rotten, corrupt, and compromise.
Kalindo said it is the belief in all the people that courts deliver justice in the interest of all but the way Malawi courts are delivering justice is questionable making one not trusting the courts as the last resort in justice delivery.
He said for the first time in the history of the country, the court has issued an injunction to those suspect who were terrorizing and hacking innocent people in Malawi stopping the police from re arresting them.
Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said from what the judges are issuing injunctions, it is clearly speaking for itself that the country has no Constitution and if there is the constitution, which section are the Judges using issuing injunctions favoring dangerous criminals?
Kalindo said it is sad that these court injunctions are being issued while the Attorney General and Malawi Law Society (MLS) are there and ever since the date the injunctions were issued, there have been no word from either the Attorney General or Malawi Law Society (MLS).
He said Malawians are now wondering if the country has an Attorney General, and if there is one, what is he doing not to go to court to vacate the injunctions obtained expressing fears that the country is heading towards a constitutional crisis.
The activist said the courts in Malawi have been proved delivering justice to those that have money to hire lawyers to represent them in court but those that have no money, they cannot buy justice and freedom but rotting in Prison.
Kalindo has encouraged court judges to take their time off visiting the country’s prisons to appreciate how prisoners who have no money to buy lawyers to represent them in court are suffering saying their visit would help them to remember that in prisons there are convicts who are serving 5 years jail terms for stealing sugarcanes and chickens.
He said the injunctions issued to MCP panga wielding thugs has sent a strong message to the outside world that Malawi is a country which is being driven without laws as evidenced with selective application of justice.
“Are you serious that with all evidence available, MCP panga wielding thugs walking to freedom? We are a joke as a country,” said Kalindo.
On Tollgate fee hike from 1st January, 2026 Kalindo has called for consultations on how best the Toll gate at Kalinyeke (Dedza) and Chingeni in Ntcheu have served the nation in addressing the question of road maintenances.
Kalindo has asked the Roads Fund Administration (RFA) to explain what they have used with the billions of Kwachas realized from the Tollgates and where has this money gone in the interest of transparency and accountability?
