Political activist Bon Kalindo, has warned the new government of the DPP to fix the Judicial system especially the courts that there are judges and magistrates who are working for MCP and as a result, government will not win any case if care is not taken.
The courts in Malawi have been issuing unrealistic injunctions restraining government from redeploying Army Generals and Police Commissioners to serve in various security institutions, police from re arresting MCP panga wielding thugs, and police from searching the residence of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and Simplex Chithyola Banda’s farm in Kasungu.
Many people are failing to understand on why the laws have changed observing that during the DPP regime, almost half dozens of ministers were arrested, their residences searched, civil servants redeployed to other institutions, but none, went to court to obtain an injunction against the MCP led government.
Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo has asked the DPP led government to wake- up from sleeping claiming that the MCP captured the entire judicial system of the country and as a result great care must be taken if it is to win cases.
Kalindo has accused the Roads Fund Administration (RFA)of raising Tollgate fee by 200 percent from 1st January, 2026 claiming that money collected has been used for maintaining the roads of Malawi dismissing this as nonsense aimed at deceiving President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
He said even President Professor Mutharika is seeing for himself that on the roads of Malawi there are too many potholes which are deathtraps why making a decision of raising Tollgate fees when the impact of it is going into the pockets of crooks and thieves?
The activist has asked President Professor Mutharika to open his eyes that the roads of Malawi are full of potholes, he should not be deceived that the roads are being maintained and if the maintenances are being done, are the officers pockets not the roads.
He has thanked Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Dr. Ben Malunga Phiri for instructing all District Commissioners to remove names of civil servants on Farm Input Subsidy Programme (FISP) that they should payback the fertilizer already redeemed.
Kalindo said FISP is for the poor people in Malawi and yet the people that are benefiting are the rich and vendors saying this is a wake -up call to the government to think outside the box that the policy of giving out farm inputs and other items for free should be abandoned.
“Chiefs who are cashing in from their subjects after redeeming bags of fertilizer, must be investigated and brought to book the same as Agricultural Officials implicated in FISP scam,” he said.
He has reminded government that there are individuals who received 1000, 2000 and 5000 bags of fertilizers in the name of mega farms during the MCP and they ended up selling the fertilizers to build mansions, buying Sientas and trucks, these people must be investigated to pay back what they borrowed.
The activist has advised the new government of the DPP that Head Counting which is underway in the country to all public servants should not end up on Head Counting, saying the Office of the Vice President must be treated with special care, government is losing billions of Kwachas through paying ghost names- salaries.
