Political activist Bon Kalindo has called on the government of the DPP to formulate deliberate policies that will be seen cushioning the suffering Malawians amid fuel price increases which has reduced the citizens back to square zero.

Kalindo said while it is true that the new government is sailing through tough economic crisis created by the MCP led government of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his MCP, there is need for government to think of the poor first before implementing harsh economic conditions.

He said he would have loved if fuel price increases should have come together with government measures of regulating transport fares from one destination to another observing that commuters are finding it hard to travel because transport costs are up at nobody’s care.

Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said fuel price increase by 41 percent has disappointed many Malawians at the time that poverty is multiplying in their hearts observing that citizens are just coming from a situation where they were buying a bag of 50 Kilogram maize at K100,000.

Kalindo has appealed to government to remove some taxes on some essential goods for Malawians to trust that they have a caring government but with the existence of those taxes as they are, Malawians will have no hope for a better tomorrow.

He said the fuel price increase has made many Malawians to forgot the good things the DPP led government is implementing making many especially the poor to feel that they have been forgotten while they have sailed through pain and hard times of the former regime.

The activist has reminded the DPP and President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika that President Chakwera lost the elections because of greed, he was not listening to the peoples’ cries, advising Mutharika to listen to Malawian cries on fuel price increases.

“From K3000 to K5000 per Litre, this price increase has never happened for 26 years of the country’s democracy, the cost of living will be bad, everything will go up, and the smiles which were being seen on peoples’ faces, will turn to be anger,” said Kalindo.

He has further advised the DPP to prioritize on the welfare of the citizens first, their personal needs second, reminding them that before they are implementing tough measures against the citizens, they should remember their uncles, nieces, brothers and sisters living in the rural areas.

Kalindo has finally reminded DPP politicians to always remember that the positions they are holding in government are temporary, there is no position for life advising them to join and support the suffering poor Malawians.
