FINCA Malawi Reports 226% Profit Surge in 2025, Expands Loans and Rural Financing

FINCA Malawi has delivered a remarkable financial performance for the 2025 fiscal year, posting a Profit After Tax of K4.1 billion—up sharply from K1.2 billion recorded in 2024, representing a 226 percent increase.

The strong growth highlights the institution’s accelerating momentum in Malawi’s financial sector, driven by increased lending, rising deposits, and strategic customer-focused products.

Chief Executive Officer Charles Anderson Bello revealed that customer deposits grew by 75 percent to K17.8 billion, reflecting growing public confidence in the institution. Meanwhile, the loan book expanded by 61 percent to K39.3 billion, signaling aggressive credit expansion to support businesses and households.

Interest income also saw a significant boost, rising by 49 percent to K24.1 billion, while total assets climbed to K48 billion—marking a 42 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Bello attributed the institution’s success to a combination of reduced interest rates and innovative financial solutions tailored to customer needs. He emphasized that the bank’s approach goes beyond profitability, focusing on inclusive growth.

A key highlight of the year was FINCA Malawi’s continued investment in agriculture, with K2.9 billion disbursed to small-scale farmers in rural areas. This initiative is aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and supporting livelihoods in underserved communities.

“We have proven that it is possible to deliver strong financial performance while driving meaningful social impact,” said Bello.
