First Capital Bank (FCB) has invested K183 million in the construction of three bridges at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC), in a move aimed at improving the quality and playability of the golf course.

The bridges, constructed across the Mudi River within the club premises, are strategically located on holes 5, 7 and 12 of the golf course.
Speaking during the official handover ceremony at the facility on Saturday, FCB Founder Hitesh Anadkat, who is also a member of the club, said the investment reflects the Bank’s commitment to supporting the development of golf in Malawi.

Anadkat noted that the deteriorating state of the previous bridges had been disrupting play, particularly during the rainy season.
“As a golfer at this club, I observed that the bridges were falling apart, which affected play, especially during the rainy season. We felt it was important to step in, as this is our club and part of our responsibility,” he said.
He added that the initiative forms part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility programme, emphasising that many of the Bank’s customers are members of the club, investing in a natural extension of its community engagement efforts.

“The course infrastructure had deteriorated, and we had engaged various institutions for support. FCB has responded by investing K183 million into the construction of these bridges, which will greatly enhance the playing experience,” said Nkhata.
