Thousands of Facebook users across the globe have reported widespread service disruptions, affecting access to feeds, logins, messaging, and content uploads on the social media platform.
According to outage monitoring platforms, the disruption triggered a sharp rise in complaints as users struggled to access key Facebook services. Meta, the parent company of Facebook, had not issued an official statement explaining the cause of the disruption by the time of publication.
Users from multiple countries reported encountering error messages, failed page loads, difficulties refreshing news feeds, and problems accessing Facebook Messenger. The disruption has impacted businesses, media organizations, content creators, and public institutions that depend on Facebook to communicate with audiences and customers. The latest disruption follows several major Meta service outages in recent years. In March 2024, Facebook and Instagram experienced a global outage that lasted approximately two hours, while a major six-hour shutdown in October 2021 disrupted Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp services worldwide.
As users await further updates, Meta has yet to confirm the cause of Friday’s outage or provide a timeline for full service restoration.
