Careless Disposal Of Expired Drugs And Medical Supplies Hit Mzuzu

Mzuzu residents risk having their health and well-being compromised due to careless disposal of some expired drugs and medical supplies in some areas in the city.

They further risk developing antibiotic resistance.

It was not immediately known as to who is responsible for the dumping of the medical supplies and drugs in areas of Jombo, Masasa, Chibavi and Luwinga townships.

Meanwhile, Mzuzu City Council has instituted an investigation.

When we visited the place on Tuesday, expired medicines such as Rectal suppositories, Paracetamol, Clamoxin oral suspension, Amoxycillin capsules, Diclofenac Sodium Tablets, Erythromycin, Fluconazole, anti-malaria drugs among others were found all over the place.
