Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Mike Mkwate Signs Contract

Nyasa Big Bullets have announced that midfielder Mike Mkwate has signed a two-year contract with the club. He makes a return to Bullets as a free agent after leaving the club to join South Africa’s Polokwane City in 2021. Mkwate joined Bullets in 2016 from Wizards FC and had a five-season spell with the Malawi champions before moving to the South African National First Division side where he played for one season before moving back home. Coach for Malawi National Football Team Mario Marinica has released a final list of players for the upcoming back-to-back African Cup of Nations encounter against Egypt. The team left Saudi Arabia today for Cairo, Egypt where they will face the Pharaohs on Friday 24 March before a return match on 28 March at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe. Malawi is in Group D alongside Ethiopia, Guinea and Egypt.

The Ministry Of Youth and Sports says it will consider the finalisation of projects that were left unfinished during the Region 5 Youth Games. Uchizi Mkandawire, Minister of Youth and Sports made the remarks when he inspected the facilities at Bingu National Stadium, Silver and Civo Stadiums on Wednesday to appreciate the progress of the work. Despite Silver and Civo stadia being listed to host the past Region 5 Games none hosted even a single game due to the poor condition of the facilities hence failure to meet the requirements to host such an international tournament. During the inspection, Mkandawire assured the public mostly the sports followers that somefacilities will be completed to make sure that they meet the standards to host international games.

Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar FC have hired former Flames defender Gilbert Chirwa as new coach, replacing Dan Dzinkambani who left the club on mutual agreement. Chirwa has signed a one- year contract with an option to extend it. " I am ready for the new challenge," Chirwa said after signing the deal. This means Chirwa has dumped Ekwendeni Hammers, having helped them survive relegation last season. Dzinkambani was not readily available for his comment. But sources say Dzinkambani has been released as he does not have Caf B Coaching Licence, which is a minimum requirement for Super League coaches. While in charge of Dynamos, Dzinkambani helped the club to finish on position nine in their debut season. They also took part in the Airtel Top 8.

Chikondi Mwanyali a 20-year-old athlete has beaten 70 other male athletes in the Mzuzu Half Marathon to win K1 million. In the female category, Mzuzu-based Nalise Chirwa beat Asimenye Simwaka and 30 other girls to win this year's competition. Chikondi Mwanyali said the secret to his success is hardworking and is eyeing the International Marathon to put Malawi on the map. "I am the current Junior Champion, the Cross Country Champion, and today I have just won the Half Marathon here in Mzuzu am looking forward to getting an opportunity to compete on the international stage and win," said Mwanyali. A new cross-country record has been set by 20-year-old Chikondi Mwenyali who is the new Champion for 10-kilometre National Cross Country after beating Macdonald Maganizo, Chancy Masitala and others in the Senior Category.
