“Time for just sharing notes and holding meetings is long gone. What the world needs now to combat hunger and starvation is action,” said Dr Chakwera.

In his remarks, the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization, Qu Dongyu said countries need to work in concert with one another to deal with global food challenges.

“Food is a fundamental human right and as such it must be affordable, accessible and guaranteed to all at all times,” said Dongyu.

The meeting comes at a time the world is grappling with climate change, the Covid-19 Pandemic and conflicts in some parts of the world which have exacerbated the food crisis.
