Martha Chizuma, the current Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), has faced a setback in her efforts to extend her tenure in the office.

Anonymous sources within the government have disclosed that her application for contract renewal has been rejected by Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, without providing any explanation.

Critics question Chizuma’s decision to seek renewal, citing a lack of significant accomplishments during her tenure except for causing embarrassment to the government.

Zamba even suggested that Chizuma take leave until her contract expires, a suggestion that was declined by Chizuma.

“Chizuma opted to stay put and complete her contract,” confided the source.

In an interview, Zamba claimed that her office has not received any application to that effect.

“No application came to my office. No leave commutation is a policy of government for all officers. Martha has a contract and it’s her contract that governs her position,” said Zamba.

In her remarks, Chizuma said she was not aware about the rejection of her application for the extension of her contract at the graft-busting body. “Oh really? I don’t know about that,” she reacted.
