The way Charles Mchacha is castigating the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Hon Kondwani Nankhumwa, is just testimony enough that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) internal fights are far from over, in fact they are yet to climax.
Just few days ago, DPP leaders in the north physically fought while their meeting was in session. They failed to agree on an issue and decided to sort it out through boxing.
Just today, some DPP leaders from the north have vehemently quashed an ealier proposal by their fellows in which they endorsed the erstwhile president as DPP torchbearer in the 2025 tripartite elections. The truth of the matter is that Peter Mutharika made it clear that those vying for DPP presidency will have to battle it out at they party convention.
All these dirty events only prove that DPP as an institution is on the verge of collapse. It is popularly expected that these internal feuds might reach the worst levels after the party elective conference.
It is sad that DPP is wasting precious time and effort on internal battles other than rendering the much needed checks and balances to the government of the day.
