Kamphangala advises Government revokes Refugees Malawian documents

A Burundian genocide mastermind on the run for 20 years using Malawian passport

A Malawi Congress Party [MCP] diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has advised the Government of Malawi to revoke all documents refugees and asylum seekers obtained while they are in Malawi claiming that the documents were obtained at the influence of corruption.

Kamphangala observed that many refugees and asylum seekers are in possession of Malawi Passports, certificates of naturalization that they are Malawians and national Identity Cards saying all this is pointing at one, Malawi is rotten with corruption.

He said the story of a Burundian national believed to have massacred over 2000 people during genocide in Rwanda Fulgence Kayishema, who was arrested and is answering charges in South Africa, is not only worrisome to Malawi as refugees hosts nation but to its national security.

The MCP diehard said it is sad that Fulgence Kayishema obtained a Malawian Passport while in South Africa and has been on the run for 20 years using different names and two nationalities Burundi and Rwanda including a Malawian name Positani Chikuse.

He said the revelation that Kayishema has been using a Malawian Passport under the name Positani Chikuse is speaking to itself that Malawi is harbouring Rwandan and Burundian Army Generals who are hiding in the country using Malawian names.

Kamphangala said the story of Fulgence Kayishema should be a wake-up call to the Government of Malawi that it is not safe from these foreigners hiding in the name of refugees and asylum seekers while they are criminals wanted in their respective countries of origin for genocide cases.

He said it has now come to light that these refugees have been going to court to obtain injunctions stopping the Government of Malawi which is hosting them for a purpose of buying more time not to be repatriated to Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa district.

…..’’Some of these refugees and asylum seekers are wanted criminals in their countries of origin and they don’t want to go back in fear that they will be killed, Malawi should not be there country to hide, they better go back to their homes for an eye to an eye,’’….said Kamphangala.

Kamphangala has advised the Malawi Police Service [MPS] to order all of its police formations across the country to hold sensitization meetings with chiefs and Area Block Leaders that if there areas are aiding or harbouring refugees, that particular chief or Block leader will be arrested and prosecuted.

He said doing this, there will be no one to aid or harbor a refugee and this will force the owners of the villages and locations to force these foreigners leave their premises back to Dzaleka Camp with a warning that words without action on the ground, it will take years to see to it that all refugees and asylum seekers are back to Dzaleka Camp.

Meanwhile, the Malawi Police Service [MPS] has caution Malawians that it is a crime to interfere with security agencies by harboring refugees and that anyone who will be found, will be arrested and prosecuted calling upon all refugees to immediately go back to Dzaleka Refugee Camp.

….’’Operation Mchotsa ma Burundi’’ is still on across the country and police officers will use necessary force that will make the refugees return to the camp and never come back,’’….reads the police statement in part.
