By Suleman Chitera Aug4,2022

The Department of Forestry has re-iterated that lack of sustainable energy alternatives remain the major cause of wanton cutting down of trees in protected areas.

Deputy Director in the department, Teddie Kamoto, was speaking during an interface between Investigative journalists, Malawi Police Service and Anti – Corruption Bureau.

Kamoto said minus sustainable energy alternatives, the battle against the massacre of natural resources in Malawi goes in vain.

The meeting, taking place in Lilongwe, has been convened by Modern Cooking for Healthy Forests and the Association of Environmental Journalists, under Forest Accountability Journalism in Malawi.
