MCP Launches National Skills Development Program

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) through the office of the Secretary-General has launched the skills development programme targeting over 5 thousand youths in the country.

MCP Secretary General, Eisenhower Mkaka, launched the programme at a function which took place at Blantyre Teachers College with a call to young people to take advantage of the initiative to uplift their lives.

The training will commence immediately at METI University in Blantyre.

Mkaka said 20 youths will start this week as a pilot phase before rolling out the project across the country to reach 5 thousand youths in two years.

They will be trained as part of the youth economic empowerment drive of the MCP through the Secretary General’s office in complementing the government’s efforts in the 1 million job creation drive.

Carpentry and joinery, videography, tailoring, welding and fabrication are some of the skills to be imparted to the youths.
