Namalomba bolds enough to commence a lawsuit

Democratic Progressive Party–PP’s Spokesperson, Shadreck Namalomba dares to drag Electricity Generation Company-EGENCO Auditors to court for involving him in corruption scandal happened at the EGENCO in 2017.

He decried that the auditors accused him of being one of the tangible beneficiaries of the corruption scandal at the company.

Namalomba said in a damn statement: “Be prepared to face me in court. What kind of auditors are you? And how were you picked anyway?”

Namalomba’s name has been found in the said neither true or false forensic investigation into financial irregularities at the company which has unearthed startling revelations that the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) allegedly coerced the parastatal into purchasing party attire, including Nsalu and t-shirts.

Meanwhile, Civil Society Organizations, spearheaded by HRDC Chairperson Gift Trapence and Benedicto Kondowe, are demanding swift action against those implicated within EGENCO and the DPP, advocating for their arrest due to the abuse of authority.

Furthermore, voices across the nation are echoing concerns that such egregious actions paint a grim picture of the DPP’s governance, raising doubts about their suitability for future governmental roles, as fears mount that they may continue their practices if reinstated.

EGENCO is sitting on a K6.7 billion procurement mess for transactions undertaken between January 2017 and March 2022, a forensic audit and investigation uncovered.

The alleged misprocurement is said to be connected to unissued items in stock, unauthorised requisitions and rampant single sourcing of materials and services instead of sourcing through national competitive bidding (NCB)
