Norway Pledges More Support For Malawi

Ambassador Ingrid Marie Mikelsen says Norway will continue supporting Malawi in various sectors of development.

The Ambassador made the remarks after presenting her Letters of Credence to President Dr Lazarus Chakwera on Thursday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, attended the ceremony.

Norway and Malawi have enjoyed excellent bilateral relations, and the Ambassador looks forward to further developing the relations between the two countries.

Diplomatic relations between Malawi and Norway were established in 1964 and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Lilongwe was opened in 1999 with a resident Ambassador.

Ambassador Mikelsen emphasized in her speech to Dr Chakwera that Norway is here as a long-term partner in attaining the Sustainable Development Goals, aligning the priorities with the country’s aspirations as set out in the Malawi Vision 2063
