NRWB Reaches Out Families Affected With Floods In Karonga

Some villagers who were displaced by floods along North Rukulu river in Karonga can a breath a sigh of relief as Northern Region Water Board has provided them with 128 bags of maize flour and 384 bottles of water guard worth K4 million.

NRWB Board Chairperson, ⁨Frank Mwenifumbo⁩ has take part from providing the maize flour and bottles of water guard, the utility body will also be supplying water to the displaced villagers.

“As a Board, we feel the use of a water bowser in supplying water to the affected families will help in ensuring that communities have access to safe drinking water and prevent outbreak of waterborne diseases in evacuation camps”, Mwenifumbo said.

Mwenifumbo observed that the provision of relief items to the flood victims is part of Corporate Social Responsibility by ploughing back to the community.

According to statistics from the council, over 600 households were affected by floods in areas of GVH Zindi, Mweniyumba, Mwandwanga, Kalambo and Mwahimba among others.
