STA Katumbi Of Nkhotakota Laid To Rest

The body of Sub-Traditional Authority (STA) Katumbi of Nkhotakota has been laid to rest at his Lupachi Headquarters in TA Kafuzira in the lakeshore district.

Katumbi died on Thursday, less than two months after he had been promoted to the position, at Jenda Trading Centre in Mzimba where he was hit by a motorcycle.

Member of Parliament for Nkhotakota North, Henry Chimunthu Banda—in whose area the fallen local ruler came from—has described Katumbi’s death as shocking and a big loss to the council.

Moments before the burial, a vehicle belonging to Nkhotakota District Council, that ferried people to the ceremony, was involved in what has been reported as a serious accident.

The vehicle is said to have been extensively damaged while one council official was also seriously injured in the course of the mishap.
