MP Hon. Steve Mikaya lands committee chairmanship on Rules, Privileges and Discipline at PAP; A big recognition for Malawi
Malawi legislator Hon. Steve Mikaya has been elected as chairman for Pan African Parliament (PAP)) Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline.
He is to be deputized by Hon Carla Solange Fortes Lima of Cape Verde.
Speaking in an interview in Midrand where PAP members were meeting, Hon. Mikaya could not hide his excitement and described his election as victory for Malawi as nation.
“It is an honor to be entrusted with such a position for big establishment like PAP. This is not only a victory for me but it is a recognition for my mother country Malawi. It is rare for Malawian politicians to be recognized on international stage, as such i am excited and i promise to work with PAP leadership led by Hon. Charumbira to push forward the pan africanist agenda. I still believe that Africa as a continent has the capability to take itself out of poverty,” explained a visibly excited Mikaya.
Malawi has five representatives at PAP and these are Hon. Mikaya, Hon. Ezekiel Ching’oma, Hon. Victoria Kingston, Hon. Rodrick Khumbanyiwa and Hon. Yeremiah Chihana.
