Malawi is today celebrating 58 years of Independence. As part of the celebrations, the country is holding the National Service of Worship in Lilongwe. President Lazarus Chakwera, Vice president Saulos Chilima, former vice president Khumbo Kachali, speaker of National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara, Minister of Local Government Blessings Chinsinga, Minister of Health Khumbize Chiponda, Minister of Youth and Sports Richard Chimwendo Banda, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife Michael Usi, Minister of Lands Sam Kawale, Minister of Information Gospel Kazako, Minister of Labour Vela Kamtukule, Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo, Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia, Leader of Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa and several senior government officials, clergy and others are attending the event.

Supporters of Malawi Congress Party, UTM, Alliance for Democray and Peoples Party are also in attendance and dressed in party colours.
