Police have now formally charged musician-cum politician Penjani Kalua, well known as Fredokiss with a case of ‘fraud other than false pretences’.
National Police Publicist Peter Kalaya reveals Kalua and two other accomplices allegedly duped and defrauded Daiton Bwanamusi of K6.3 million.
He says police received a complaint over this, resulting in Kalua’s arrest on Friday.
Kalaya further reveals they have so far managed to recover part of the money and are currently hunting for the two accomplices.
“After his arrest in Blantyre, Kalua was transferred to Lilongwe on Saturday, where the trio allegedly committed the crime and the complaint was logged,” adds Kalaya in a statement.
Kalua, released on bail late last night, is expected to report back at Fiscal Police Offices in Lilongwe tomorrow
