Critics are pushing President Lazarus Chakwera to stop treating Agriculture Minister Lobin Lowe with kid gloves in the wake of the bogus fertiliser procurement deal.
Despite being accused of involvement in the K30 billion Affordable Input Programme – AIP fertiliser scam, Lowe and his top ministry officials are still discharging their duties normally.
Some opposition political parties and other Civil Society Organisations claim that Chakwera is failing to act on Lowe owing to their family relation ties.
Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee Chairperson, Shadreck Namalomba, wonders why those involved are not either suspended or dismissed to pave way for investigations.
Weighing his views on the matter Executive Director of the Centre for Social Accountability and Transparency (CSAT), Willy Kambwandira maintains that Chakwera has to take action on the agriculture authorities.
