Holders of the Airtel Top 8 Cup, Nyasa Big Bullets will tomorrow face their arch-rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers for the first time in a final match of the competition since its inception in 2017.
Bullets are on course to win a treble this season having already won the TNM Super League Championship and FDH Cup this year.
On the other hand, the Wanderers will be out on Saturday in a match to be played at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe to seek redemption and win silverware this season.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Nyasa Big Bullets Assistant Coach, Peter Mponda, encouraged his charges to remain focused ahead of a derby to be played away from home.
“If I say that we don’t have pressure then we will be lying because every job has its pressure, but it’s how we handle it. We managed to beat them at the same venue convincingly and we know that they will come hard on us,” said Mponda.
For his part, the President of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, Thom Mpinganjira, told media in Blantyre that the Lali Lubani boys have all the reasons to win this Saturday.
“Running football is expensive. Despite the sponsorship from Mukuru, I am still bankrolling the team. You can pay me back by winning the Cup. We have a terrific squad and we are yet to concede a goal in the Cup,” stated Mpinganjira.
The winner between the two will walk away with K17 million prize money while the runners-up will get K6 million.
