The Kasungu District Education office has decried the tendency of many teachers refusing posting to rural areas of the district because they prefer working in the urban.
Director of Education, Youth and Sports Dorothy Masudi says most of them are female teachers who claim they are following their husbands or have health complications requiring them to be close to a district hospital.
Masudi feels this is worrisome because rural learners as well have a right to education and availablity of teachers one the key factors for the realisation of their dreams.
Kasungu District Education Network Chair, Clifford Kachali says the office must implement the education policy for even distribution of teachers in the district.
Education stakeholders are meeting this afternoon to brain storm on how to improve the quality of education in the district.
