President Lazarus Chakwera has renewed his pledge to bring to life the long-awaited M’mbelwa University, declaring it a symbol of his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and national transformation.
Addressing traditional leaders at Ephangweni Court near Mzukuzuku Headquarters, Chakwera reflected on his first five years in office, describing them as a period of resilience in the face of adversity.
“We encountered a host of challenges in the past five years, but despite that, we still managed to embark on several development projects such as the construction of roads, schools, and hospitals,” he said.
While admitting that some initiatives stalled due to resource constraints, the president assured Malawians that his government is determined to see every promise through.
“But we are committed to completing all pending projects, including M’mbelwa University,” Chakwera stressed, framing the institution as a critical investment in the nation’s future.
As the September 16 elections draw closer, Chakwera called on voters to back the Chakwera-Mumba ticket, arguing it is the only leadership with a “clear vision for transforming the nation.”
Running mate and Minister of Trade, Vitumbiko Mumba, backed the president’s message, pointing to global disruptions such as the war in Ukraine as factors that slowed progress.
“Despite the global setbacks, as a government we still managed to construct schools and roads. Don’t be misled by other parties. Vote for Chakwera and Mumba on September 16,” Mumba urged.
