A Truck carrying bags of maize meant for #CycloneFreddy survivors that was allegedly diverted last week by Councillor for Mlomba ward, Alexander Cosmos has been involved in an accident at Mbanira along the Nayuchi road in Machinga.
The 30 toner truck that was being driven by Stanley Banda, 41, was heading to Nayuchi to deliver maize to #CycloneFreddy survivors, after it was released by Liwonde police.
An eye witness has told Zodiak Online that the driver failed to negotiate a bend on the road causing it to overturn.
Machinga district council spokesperson, Martin Chiwanda has confirmed of the incident adding they are now at the scene together with police to secure the maize and no injuries or deaths have been reported.
