Stakeholders in disaster management have called for robust coordination of activities in disaster response to avoid duplication of roles.

Country Director for Good Neighbors Malawi, Gyojin Joo, made the observation during the launch of the emergency response programme by her organization in Chikwawa District.

Joo noted that the status quo has left other camps starving while others swimming in plenty.

In his response, a representative of Chikwawa District Council, Charles Chibwana, blamed the situation on organizations and well-wishers who are shunning authorities in disaster response in the district.

On Saturday, Good Neighbors Malawi donated relief items to hundreds of survivors who are seeking refuge in two camps in the area of Traditional Authority Ngabu.

According to Good Neighbors Malawi, their donation is worth over K100 million.
