The assuarance was made whem Malawi has joined the rest of the world in commemorating world international nurses day under the theme ‘Our Nurses, Our Future’.
This year’s commemoration took place at Katuma evacuation camp in Katuma village, Traditional Authority Mkanda in Mulanje, as one way of cheering Cyclone Freddy victims in the area.
Health Minister Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda said it is important for the nation to always remember and commemorate the good work that nurses have been doing in the country.
Chiponda further challenged the private sector to assist government by employing qualified personel into the country’s health system.
Meanwhile, Shouts Simeza, President for National organization of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi has disclosed that over 4 thousand qualified personel are still un-employed although the country’s health system needs more workforce.
With this, Simeza has asked government to intervene on this issue and open up job opportunities to nurses and Midwives both at local and international level.
