Promoting good health is not just about treatment but also about creating a clean and supportive environment. On Saturday, July 6, the Radio Islam Listeners Association (RAILA) took a commendable step in this direction by organizing a cleanup exercise at Mangochi District Hospital. The initiative aimed to ensure a clean and hygienic environment for hospital workers, patients, and visitors.

The cleanup activity brought together members of RAILA, local volunteers, and hospital staff who worked tirelessly to remove waste, sweep hospital grounds, and clean the wards. With brooms, shovels, and other cleaning tools in hand, the team’s dedication was evident as they transformed the hospital into a cleaner, safer space

RAILA’s President highlighted the importance of the initiative:
“Cleanliness is critical in preventing the spread of diseases and maintaining a healthy environment. Our goal is to support the hospital in providing a clean and conducive space for both staff and patients.”

The initiative extended beyond cleaning. In a gesture of compassion, RAILA also provided meals to patients and their guardians, many of whom were attending to loved ones under challenging circumstances. The warm meals brought comfort and relief to the families, with many expressing gratitude for the support.

One guardian, who had been caring for a sick child, shared her appreciation:
“RAILA has shown us kindness today. The meal they provided came at a time when we needed it most. We are grateful for their thoughtfulness.”

The hospital management lauded RAILA for their efforts, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in improving healthcare services.
“This initiative complements our efforts to maintain a clean hospital environment. We encourage other organizations and individuals to emulate RAILA’s example,” said a representative from the hospital.

RAILA’s cleanup and feeding initiative not only improved the hospital’s environment but also fostered a sense of community and support among patients and their families. The event served as a reminder of the critical role that collective action plays in enhancing public health.

As RAILA continues to champion health and wellness in the community, their efforts at Mangochi District Hospital set a shining example of how small actions can make a big difference.
