As Malawi prepares for the 2025 Tripartite Elections, MISA Malawi is launching a series of initiatives to safeguard media freedom and journalism safety.
On Saturday, September 21, 2024, MISA Malawi will organize a Fundraising Fun Run in Lilongwe, aiming to raise K30 million to complete the construction of the MISA Malawi Training Centre.
Themed “Support Media Freedom: Claim Your Right to Free Speech and Ensure the 2025 Elections are Free, Fair, and Citizen-Centric,” the event is open to all, including politicians, journalists, communications practitioners, electoral stakeholders, and citizens.
The 5km route will start at Game Complex, passing through Lilongwe Water Board and Likuni Round About, before finishing at Gateway Mall.
Participants are encouraged to show their support for media freedom and free expression, with contributions accepted through the NAMISA FUNDRAISING account at National Bank, Lilongwe Service Centre.
MISA Malawi Chairperson Golden Matonga invites all to join the cause in promoting journalism safety and free speech during the elections.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for product and service marketing at the finishing line. “Join the Fun Run and contribute to the advancement of media freedom in Malawi,” said Matonga.
