i would like to first congratulate the anchor of the interview, Brain Banda for his professionalism on how he handled the interview as it allowed Dr Kabambe to speak in chichewa and English. This allowed him to communicate with Malawians better as they were able to follow him on Times TV using both languages. The interview concentrated on two areas, the economy and politics. Brain made sure he understood why Dr Kabambe left DPP and joined UTM and he tried to find out if Dr Kabambe was in any mission as many are saying. Brain also wanted to find out if he was afraid of any competition since more candidates are eager to join the race. it was very good interview that kept many glued to either the TV or watching live online using their phones. Let me start by digesting and analyse the interview in a similar format that anchor Brian banda used:-
ECONOMY
Dr Kabambe talked about precarious situation that Malawians are facing. He talked about leadership crisis because we have given crue-less people the positions but they know nothing and they have nothing to offer. End result is extravagance and poor economic policies. Dr Kabambe reminded us that in 2020 wage bill was about 37 billion and just 3 years now the wage bill is at 110 billion, are we serious as country. he even Labelled current economic status as chakwera economics because even economist don’t understand the principles we are following as a country. The exchange rate is misaligned, no wonder there is scarcity of forex. He stressed the fact that policy rate is not in-line with inflation. This is caused by extravagance and living opulence life. He exemplified with a man whose salary is 100,000 but has huge credit of 10 million. But this guy wants to continue borrowing and spending 1 million kwacha a month. will this guy sustain his life? This is exactly what Malawi economic situation is now. We need to change leaders, we need to put right people in their rightful positions. ON POLITICAL OBSERVATION
Dr Kabambe expressed his honest opinion that he has come to UTM with honest heart. He loved the ideologies that UTM shares and what SKC was pursuing. UTM believes that we are all Malawians despite our tribal differences. UTM believe in united front to develop the country, so he was attracted to UTM ideologies . They are people who are spreading lies by saying he is on a mission but he has denied those accusations. Dr Kabambe is UTM and has come wholeheartedly to fulfil chilima dreams. Dr Kabambe is not afraid to face competition and he has declared to win at convention where he claims to have a double celebration because he was born the same date. Dr Kabambe also stressed a point that UTM is winning election in 2025 general election.UTM Party urged to ensure fairness ahead of November 2024 national elective conference
MALAWIAN OBSERVATION
We assessed the opinion of Malawians, the general consensus has shown that more are impressed with Dr Kabambe, he is the right man to be given opportunity to rule the country. We chatted with a member of STRATEGIC MEDIA SPECIALIST FOR DR KABAMBE, George M Mbayani, who was speechless because the interview surpassed their expectations. Dr Kabambe was at a level of his own even Brain was more convinced with articulation of facts , examples he made that even a lay man could understand what he was talking about. Dr Kabambe has revived hope for Malawians that we still have hope of transformative leaders in the country. He has raised hope of UTM winning election in 2025.
