
Youth and Society (YAS) has called on young political aspirants to register and prepare to participate in next year’s general elections.
YAS Program Coordinator for Human Rights and Civil Society Strengthening, Mwandida Theu emphasized the need for all participants to familiarize themselves with the newly revised electoral laws to avoid unintentional violations during the election process.
Speaking in Mulanje during a youth dialogue on electoral laws and procedures, Theu also encouraged the youth to register with the National Registration Bureau (NRB) to ensure their eligibility to vote in the upcoming elections.

One of the youths from Chambe, Steve Sekani, expressed frustration over the difficulties many young people face in obtaining or renewing their IDs, which could potentially prevent them from participating in the elections.
The project, Democracy in Young Hands, funded by UNDP and implemented in 10 districts, seeks to empower youth participation in democratic processes.
