By Burnett Munthali

DMI St. John the Baptist University’s Lilongwe Campus is hosting its much-anticipated Sports Day Awards at the university’s football ground, with the aim of recognizing outstanding student-athletes and promoting a spirit of learning and discipline through sports.

The event has drawn attention from the university community, as students eagerly await the awarding of top performers in various sports disciplines. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Amalraj Ambrose, delivered an inspiring speech during the event, underscoring the critical role that sports play in education.

“Sports not only promote physical fitness but also instill values such as teamwork, leadership, and perseverance, which are essential in academic and personal growth,” Professor Ambrose noted. He emphasized the need for a balanced approach to education, where students excel both academically and in extracurricular activities.

Awards will be presented to exceptional athletes in volleyball, basketball, netball, football, and several other sports, recognizing their hard work and dedication throughout the academic year. The event celebrates the success of these athletes while encouraging others to pursue sports alongside their studies.

The Sports Day Awards at DMI St. John the Baptist University mark a vibrant chapter in the institution’s commitment to fostering a holistic learning environment, where academic excellence and physical fitness go hand in hand.
