In Mozambique, significant concerns have emerged regarding the Smartmatic Electronic Marking Devices (EMDs) following allegations of electoral misconduct. Reports indicate that these machines, which are intended to streamline the voting process, have been mismanaged, leading to serious accusations of electoral fraud.

The situation has escalated to violence, prompting urgent calls for action from various stakeholders. Key figures such as Anabel Mtalimanja, Andrew Mpesi, Richard Chapweteka, and Mphatso Sambo have voiced their apprehensions regarding the integrity of the electoral process. Their statements underscore the need for transparency and accountability in the use of technology during elections.

The allegations have raised questions about the reliability of the Smartmatic EMDs, with many citizens fearing that their votes may not be accurately counted. As tensions rise, it is imperative for the National Regulatory Board (NRB) to investigate these claims thoroughly and ensure that the electoral process remains free and fair.
