Am not arrested-Navicha

Mary Thom Navicha, Member of parliament for Thyolo Thava who is also a National Director of Women for Democratic Progressive Party-DPP has been rebuted the news that she is in police custody at area 30 police.

Social media is buzzing with the false information saying that she has been arrested on two accounts: for visiting Chikangawa which has not authorized and for visiting families that are eating Chitedze, this has instilled fear in citizens that there is too much hunger yet the government has food.

But in a Facebook post she said that the news that is awash on social media about her purported arrest is not true.

“The truth of the matter is that indeed I have been tipped that my name is on the list of those to be arrested but I have not been arrested yet as alleged by the news that has gone viral. I am safe and sound,” she said.

She added that from morning till afternoon she was busy with parliamentary meetings and at some point she had to been on a queue in search for fuel for several hours.

“Unfortunately my phone went off. When I finally got home, I went straight to bed. I was so alarmed when I woke up to see news of my purported arrest.

“Lastly, I would like to say that, should Malawi Police formally invite me for questioning at whatever police station, I personally will go there to hand in myself and everyone will know,” she said.
